Edelman’s Washington, D.C. office has an immediate opening for a Front-End Web Developer, to contribute to the delivery of consulting and technology services to clients. Previous experience working in the public affairs field is a plus but not a prerequisite.
Responsibilities:
* To support the implementation of web sites by developing HTML/CSS/JavaScript prototypes and templates for CMSs from Photoshop mock-ups or other design and planning products as appropriate
* To support deployed sites by updating templates and producing additional functional components
* To participate in consultations with the client support team and client where you might brainstorm solutions, inform the greater sense of scope, and manage expectations from your unique technical perspective
* To maintain knowledge of the web standards community and independently learn, adapt, and share best practices as the situation permits or demands
Qualifications: *Two to three years experience
* Demonstrated expert experience at being able to transform designer deliverables (such as Photoshop mock-ups) into functional, standards savvy mark-up and code
* Strong working to expert knowledge of the major web technologies that make up or strongly affect the presentation layer ((x)HTML, CSS, the DOM, JavaScript etc.); familiarity with lower level technologies a plus, but not required
* Familiarity with the theming/template/extension features of various blog and CMS packages (You will be exposed to various popular systems and an in-house product)
* Specific knowledge of APIs from popular services (e.g. Facebook) and general knowledge of RESTful APIs a plus
* Strong communication skills
