Kansascity.com is seeking candidates for the position of web designer. The successful candidate will work with newsroom managers, editors and end users to conceptualize, plan and design a wide range of on-line products.

While the primary focus of this position is design, the candidate with some Web development skills will have an advantage.

Required:

•    5+ years of user-interface and interactive design experience
•    A strong understanding of visual design and how it can shape and influence user experiences
•    Strong conceptual design, collaborative, interpersonal and organizational skills
•    Ability to rapidly design mockups using Photoshop/Illustrator/Fireworks
•    The ability to hand code XHTML/CSS/JS
•    A working knowledge of the Jquery library
•    A familiarity with Flash design, animation and code.
•    A familiarity with multiple content management systems and an ability to adapt that knowledge to new systems.
•    Informal and formal usability testing
•    A dedication to detail and deadlines
•    A demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects from concept to completion.
•    A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Desired Experience:
•    News web design
•    PHP/MySQL development
•    Social media/networking
•    Multimedia editing and podcast distribution
•    Experience in a newspaper environment a plus
•    Experience with Drupal and Django a plus

You will manage all aspects of your projects, meshing the needs of end users with the goals of your managers and the company. You will be expected to report frequently to your manager, remain accessible to end users, and collaborate as needed with other members of the design and development team.
